Another Summer Planting

Hosting a family gathering at our home proved to be a whirlwind event that was all consuming over the last few weeks. Not much happened in the garden, or in the seed department, or on this blog during this time. So it’s time to catch up!

In Northwest Florida – and other parts of the South – we are fortunate to have a long warm season allowing for a second summer planting.  Summer Solstice will be here in a few days, which marks the time for Southern gardeners to think about another round of tomatoes or adding some okra, squash, or melons. We also tend to get excited all over again about planning the fall garden.

We’re adding seeds to our inventory over the next few weeks to help fill any garden spots that are in need of filling. I’ve selected varieties that can be planted in the summer, are quick growing, or grow well in containers.

Here’s a a few that we’ll have at the Seaside Farmers Market on Saturday. These can also be found at our online store here.

What to plant in June,  Zone 8b:

Asparagus, Lima Bean, Eggplant, Okra, Southern Peas, Sweet Potatoes, Ginger, Rosemary, Oregano, Terragon
